Little Orphan Mannie

We all know little orphan Annie, but did you know she had a sibling? Sister, brother or other from another mother? “Little Orphan Mannie” opened on March 13th, 1976 at the St James Theatre. The story centers around little orphan Mannie’s confusion of gender and sexual identity.

In 1977, “Annie”, a total rip off of “Little Orphan Mannie”, opened on Broadway to rave reviews.  Despite dozens of failed attempts to stop Annie, she continues to this day to strike it rich on stages around the world.
