Strictly Stickley

“Strictly Stickley”, a man and his chair, is a stylistic, postmodern one-man musical that explores the work of German furniture maker Gustav Stickley, the most important figure of the American Arts and Crafts movement of the early twentieth century.

The show opened on February 13th, 1954 and played for three performances at the Alvin Theater. Theater critic Justin Atkinson called the show “creaky, wooden, and depressing right up until the curtain call.”
